Overdue Follow Up

August 30, 2011

The short of it is that while the booth worked out well, the ventilation, specifically the CFM needed is quite challenging.  To ensure that you can safely use an airbrush or other aerosol painting method in a confined space you need a LOT of CFM.  The overspray was quite substantial and there just wasn’t enough CFM in the way the booth was configured.  I think the main culprit was the corrugated hose.

My original plan was to use rigid ducting and I firmly believe that is the only viable solution to have a FULLY ventilating booth that can handle aerosol.  If your just  looking to ventilate for oil based brush painting etc, then your probably fine.

So, without a way to vent directly to the outside via rigid ducting I’m official mothballing this project.  The booth has been sent to the scrap heap and the squirrel blower has been packed away.
